Support Digital Learning: IT Technician Needed in Sefton Secondary Schools
Are you a tech-savvy professional with a passion for problem-solving? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive IT Technician to provide essential technical support to students and staff across our partner secondary schools in the Sefton area.
As an IT Technician, you will be at the heart of the school's digital infrastructure, ensuring that technology enhances teaching and learning every day.
The Role: Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Network Manager or IT Lead, your duties will include:
- Technical Support: Providing first and second-line support to staff and students, resolving hardware and software issues across desktops, laptops, tablets, and interactive whiteboards.
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Assisting in the maintenance and upgrade of the school's local area network (LAN), wireless systems, and server infrastructure.
- Audio-Visual (AV) Support: Setting up and maintaining AV equipment for assemblies, presentations, and school events.
- User Management: Managing user accounts via Active Directory and Office 365/Google Workspace, including password resets and permission adjustments.
- Software Deployment: Installing and configuring new software and operating system updates across the school network.
- Asset Management: Maintaining an accurate inventory of all IT hardware and software licenses, ensuring equipment is tracked and secure.
- Safeguarding & Security: Monitoring school web filtering and security software to ensure a safe digital environment for all students.
About You (Person Specification)
Essential:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Office 365, and general networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Problem-Solving: A methodical approach to troubleshooting and the ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff and students.
- Organisation: The ability to prioritise a busy workload and meet service-level agreements (SLAs).
Desirable:
- Previous experience working within an educational setting.
- Experience with Apple (Mac/iPad) management via MDM (e.g., Jamf).
- Knowledge of School Management Information Systems (e.g., SIMS, Arbor).
