Gateshead Council is looking for a dedicated and experienced social worker to join the Kinship Team. This role involves supporting and assessing kinship carers to ensure children and young people remain safely within their family networks when they cannot live with their birth parents.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake viability assessments and full kinship assessments
Support and supervise kinship carers, ensuring they meet the needs of the children in their care
Contribute to care planning and permanence planning for children placed in kinship arrangements
Liaise with legal teams and attend court proceedings when required
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and reports
Promote the stability, development, and safeguarding of children living in kinship care
Requirements:
Qualified social worker with current registration
Experience in fostering, kinship care, or children's social work
Strong understanding of relevant legislation and safeguarding procedures
Excellent communication, assessment, and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
