We are recruiting a dedicated Qualified Primary Teacher (QTS) specialising in Key Stage 1 for an immediate-start, long-term position at a welcoming primary school in Royston. Teaching across Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms, this role is ideal for an educator who excels at delivering foundational curriculum content, building pupil confidence, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Core Responsibilities
- KS1 Curriculum Delivery: Plan, differentiate, and teach interactive lessons aligned with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum framework.
- Phonics & Early Literacy: Utilise modern systematic synthetic phonics schemes (e.g., Read Write Inc., Little Wandle) to boost early reading fluency and writing skills.
- Classroom Team Guidance: Direct, inspire, and manage room Teaching Assistants to lead targeted intervention groups and maintain an organised environment.
- Adaptive Learning: Design differentiated learning pathways to support pupils with SEND or EAL needs while challenging higher-attaining learners.
- Progress Tracking: Apply regular formative assessment protocols to evaluate pupil development, track foundational milestones, and inform future planning.
- Parental Engagement: Maintain warm, clear communication with parents and carers to foster a collaborative home-school relationship.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. Open to both experienced KS1 educators and outstanding Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with UK teaching experience.
- KS1 Pedagogical Knowledge: Strong grasp of early childhood development, Key Stage 1 milestone expectations, and systematic phonics delivery.
- Nurturing Demeanour: A compassionate, energetic, and encouraging approach capable of keeping young learners engaged and focused.
- Team-Oriented Mindset: A proactive commitment to working alongside phase leads and support staff to prioritise pupil welfare.
- Compliance Checks: Holds an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service (or readiness to complete a new application via Randstad).
