KS1 Teacher
£141 - £163 per day
St Albans
Do you love teaching Key Stage 1 and helping young children build strong reading and numeracy skills from the ground up?
Can you run a cheerful, structured classroom where 5-to-7-year-olds feel safe, happy, and eager to learn each day?
Are you looking for a secure, full-time class teacher role where you can settle in, lead your own class, and make a real difference?
Randstad Education is looking for a qualified Primary Teacher to take on a Key Stage 1 class on a full-time, long-term contract. While based at a friendly partner school in St Albans, the heart of this role is all about early childhood pedagogy: bringing phonics to life, making early maths fun through practical tasks, and nurturing children through their vital first years of primary education. Whether you are an experienced KS1 teacher or an early career teacher looking for a welcoming setting, this role gives you full ownership of your class with the support of an established school team.
What You Will Be Doing
- Teaching the Basics: Plan and teach fun, clear lessons in reading, writing, and maths suited to KS1 pupils of all abilities.
- Phonics & Early Reading: Run daily phonics sessions, hear readers individually, and build reading confidence across the class.
- Hands-On Learning: Use counting blocks, visual aids, and interactive tasks to make abstract topics simple and accessible.
- Working with Your TA: Guide and team up with your room Teaching Assistant so small groups and individual children get the right support.
- Checking Progress: Keep simple notes on how each child is doing, identify who needs extra help, and celebrate everyday progress.
- Keeping Class Calm & Positive: Use simple, positive routines that encourage sharing, listening, and good behaviour.
- Talking to Parents: Give parents brief, encouraging updates at the end of the day to keep them involved in their child's learning.
Who We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required. Both experienced teachers and ECTs with UK KS1 experience are welcome.
- KS1 Knowledge: A clear understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, synthetic phonics, and early literacy routines.
- Patience & Energy: A warm, compassionate approach and the enthusiasm needed to keep younger children engaged throughout the school day.
- Team Spirit: Someone happy to work closely with colleagues, share ideas, and follow safeguarding procedures.
- DBS Check: An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or readiness to apply for one through Randstad).
