Title: Learning Support Assistant - Empowering Students with SEMH & Complex Needs Location: Clacton-on-Sea. Pay: £90 - £100 per day (Dependent on Experience/Training) Contract Type: Day-to-Day Supply, Fixed-Term, and Temp-to-Perm opportunities available
The Mission: Empowering the Vulnerable Many of the students we support across our North Essex schools have faced significant barriers to learning. These barriers are often built from years of low self-esteem, trauma, or neurodiverse challenges that have left them feeling disconnected from the education system. We are looking for a proactive and involved Learning Support Assistants (LSA) who doesn't just want to "supervise" a classroom, but who wants to help break these barriers down. Your goal is to help rebuild a child's confidence from the ground up, showing them that they are capable of success.
The Reality: Resilience in Action We believe in being transparent: this role is as challenging as it is rewarding. You will be working with children and young people who struggle deeply with emotional regulation. This often manifests as unregulated behaviour, including high-intensity outbursts and the use of strong language.
We need staff who are:
Tolerant and Non-Judgmental: You must be tolerant of swearing and challenging verbalisations, understanding that these are often a defense mechanism for a child who feels overwhelmed or "less than."
The Eye of the Storm: You must remain calm and collected at all times. When a student's emotions escalate, your ability to stay grounded is what helps them return to a state of safety.
Open-Minded and Flexible: In an SEN setting, the "perfect plan" can change in seconds. You must be able to pivot your approach with ease, maintaining a positive outlook even when the day takes an unexpected turn.
The Ideal Candidate: A Positive Role Model You don't necessarily need a decades-long CV in education, but you must have a stellar work ethic and a positive attitude. We are looking for people who integrate positively and with ease with existing staff teams-collaboration is the only way we succeed in SEN.
Whether you have previous experience as a TA, or a background in youth work, sports coaching, or care, we want to hear from you. If you possess Team Teach Training (or similar experience in physical de-escalation and restraint), you will be at a significant advantage. Most importantly, we want to know that you are the right person for the long run. These students need the stability of a familiar, friendly face who won't give up on them.
