We are seeking a proactive, empathetic, and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our staff at a specialist SEN school, focusing on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This crucial role involves working closely with classroom teachers to ensure all pupils have the support, guidance, and encouragement they need to thrive in a specialist setting.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Provide in-class support to individual pupils or small groups, helping them to access the curriculum and complete learning tasks.
Assist the class teacher with the preparation of resources and the organisation of the classroom environment.
Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and specific intervention strategies.
Be skilled in promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and social skills development.
Supervise pupils during non-contact time, such as lunch and break times, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
Report on pupil progress and contribute to review meetings, maintaining effective communication with the teaching team.
Assist with personal care where necessary (training provided).

Experienced in working with children or young people with SEN, particularly SEMH needs (highly desirable).
Calm, patient, and highly resilient when faced with challenging behaviour.
Able to build strong, nurturing, and professional relationships with pupils quickly.
Flexible and adaptable, willing to support across different year groups and subjects as required.
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
Able to demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills.
