Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to ensure students engage meaningfully with their learning.
- Mentor young people through emotional and behavioural challenges, helping them build resilience and social skills.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver differentiated lessons that meet specific SEMH needs.
- Support pupils who are working off-timetable or require additional supervision outside the standard classroom setting.
- Liaise and collaborate with pastoral teams, on-site therapists, and external professionals to provide holistic care.
- Implement de-escalation strategies effectively to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Requirements
- Experience working within SEMH settings, alternative provision, or with young people displaying challenging behaviours.
- UK based learning support mentor experience
- Confidence in using behaviour support techniques and de-escalation strategies.
- A resilient, patient, and nurturing approach to building relationships with students.
- Commitment to the full-time working hours and punctuality is essential.
- Willingness to invest in the school community and engage in continuous professional learning.
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one immediately).
