Join a leading specialist adult centre! We seek passionate Learning Support Workers to support individuals on the Autistic Spectrum (including those with complex communication and behavioral needs) in gaining life-changing skills and knowledge.
What You Need
...
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Comfortable working with adults who exhibit challenging behaviour.
- Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required.
- Able to keep calm in high-pressure situations.
- Interested in special educational needs, specifically autism.
- Passionate about helping others learn and develop skills.
- Willingness to learn more about autism and how best to support adult learners.
Experience (Desirable):
- Professional, personal, or voluntary experience of working with adults or young people with disabilities.
- Sound literacy and numeracy skills (Maths & English Language GCSE Grade C/4 or above is desirable).
Note: We welcome applications from those with no sectoral experience - we are committed to staff development and will help you to develop the skills and expertise you need! All you will need is a keen interest in learning disabilities and a strong passion for helping others.
You will support learners 1:1 or in small groups on site and out in the local community , working through individualised curriculums to support holistic development and lifelong learning.
Key Duties include:
- Providing the support, care, and teaching identified in learners' individual learning plans and curriculum.
- Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons and activities supporting the development of knowledge and skills.
- Providing behaviourally based support and reducing behaviours that cause barriers to learning and quality of life.
- Ensuring learners' individual needs are met through effective personal care, encouraging and enabling them to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene, including toileting, dressing, and washing.
- Supporting learners' participation in social, leisure, and educational activities within the local community, applying theory-based learning to practice.
- Supporting learners to access employment opportunities in the local community.
- Collecting, recording, and analysing data on learners' progress.
- Once trained, administering medication in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Benefits and Logistics
- Reports to: Senior Learning Support Worker/Team Leader.
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00-17:00.
- Flexibility: Part time working options are available.
- Annual Leave: 25 Days + Bank Holidays (up to 3 days allocated for Christmas Closure).
