About Our School:
We are a unique and thriving independent school, proudly run as a charity, dedicated to providing exceptional education and support for children and young people aged 4 to 18 with a diverse range of special educational needs. Our mission is to foster a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every student can achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. We pride ourselves on our small class sizes, typically 5-7 pupils, allowing for highly individualised learning programmes and strong, supportive relationships between staff and students.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated individual to join our team as a Learning Support Worker, providing 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs. This is a fantastic permanent opportunity for someone passionate about making a direct and meaningful difference in the life of a young person with SEN. You will work closely with a specific student, helping them to thrive within a supportive and specialised environment, and will receive comprehensive training and mentoring from experienced SEN educators.
Key Responsibilities (with training and support):
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs, both within the classroom and during independent learning activities.
- Assist the student in accessing the curriculum, understanding tasks, and completing work, particularly in Maths and English.
- Support the student in developing their academic, social, emotional, and independent living skills, adapting strategies to their individual needs.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a holistic and integrated learning experience for the student.
- Help to implement the student's individualised learning plan (ILP) or education, health and care plan (EHCP).
- Contribute to the monitoring and tracking of the student's progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and identifying areas for further support.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment for the student.
- Build a strong, positive, and trusting relationship with the student, as well as with their parents/carers and colleagues.
- Participate actively in relevant staff meetings and training sessions.
What We Are Looking For:
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs, and a commitment to making a positive impact on an individual student's life.
- GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or higher are required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively support a student on a 1:1 basis.
- Patience, empathy, resilience, and a consistently positive attitude.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to learn new strategies and approaches.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, while also taking initiative in supporting your dedicated student.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, various special educational needs and effective support strategies.
What We Offer:
- A permanent, full-time position within a supportive and inclusive school community.
- A starting salary of £18,500.
- Comprehensive training and professional development opportunities specifically focused on 1:1 SEN support.
- Direct mentoring from experienced SEN teachers and specialists.
- The profound opportunity to make a tangible, direct impact on the learning and development of an individual student.
- A vibrant and rewarding environment where your contribution truly makes a difference.
- Free on-site parking.
- The chance to be part of a dedicated team committed to transforming the lives of our students.
