Shropshire Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our dedicated Looked After Children (LAC) team. This is a challenging and rewarding role for a social worker with expertise in supporting children in care.

Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on complex cases involving looked after children.

Conduct thorough and timely assessments, developing and implementing effective care plans.
Mentor and supervise junior social workers, promoting best practice and professional development.
Lead on complex cases, often involving multiple agencies and challenging circumstances.
Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making within the team.
Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives, ensuring continuous quality improvement.
Requirements:
Registered with Social Care England.
Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience as a qualified Social Worker. Significant experience working with looked after children is essential. Proven experience in a supervisory or advanced practice role is highly desirable.
Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to children in care.
Excellent assessment, communication, and case management skills.
Ability to build rapport and trust with young people and their families.
Commitment to person-centered practice and ethical standards.
