Maintenance Engineer - Telford
Are you a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias and experience in a manufacturing environment? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in the Telford area. About the Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will support all engineering activities, working closely with other functions to achieve joint goals. You will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance and responding to emergency machine breakdowns to minimize downtime. The role involves working on new designs, installations, and overhauling and repairing machinery. You will also have the opportunity to assist the Engineering Manager and deputize in their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in promoting and adhering to health and safety best practices, ensuring all procedures and risk assessments are followed.
- Manage and resolve factory breakdowns, overseeing internal or external engineering resources.
- Provide technical expertise, advice, and backup to all production departments.
- Ensure all equipment is safe to use, working efficiently, and fit for purpose.
- Work with and install single-phase and three-phase electrical circuits.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping and hygiene in engineering stores and workshops.
- Contribute to improving machine performance and finished goods packaging standards.
- Be flexible with hours and work with the site teams to meet business demands.
Essential Requirements
- Salary: £40,000 per annum.
- Experience: 3-5+ years of experience working as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Qualifications: A qualified multi-skilled engineer with an electrical bias (16th, 17th, or 18th Edition). An apprenticeship is not required, but a recognized Electrical/Mechanical apprenticeship is beneficial.
- Skills:
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
- Experience working with control panels and conveyors.
- Knowledge of food production processes (quiche, open-top pies, tartlets) and high hygiene standards.
- Automation/PLC experience.
- IOSH Certificate and Food Safety Level 3 Hygiene Certificate are essential.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure during operational breakdowns.
This is a full-time role with a 2-shift rotating pattern (6 am-2 pm and 2 pm-10 pm, Monday to Friday). Flexibility is required for possible callouts.
