Bury St Edmunds
Are you a mathematical mind available for a high-impact, short-term mission in one of the UK's leading academic hubs?
Can you step into a classroom and immediately transform complex algebraic structures or statistical data into "lightbulb moments" for students?
We are seeking a sharp, adaptable Qualified Maths Teacher for a 6-week block at a highly regarded Secondary School in Bury St Edmunds. This role is perfect for a contractor, a teacher between long-term roles, or a specialist looking for a focused burst of impact. You will be responsible for maintaining the momentum of learning across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students remain confident and prepared as they navigate their mathematical curriculum.
Your Responsibilities
- Immediate Curriculum Delivery: Take over existing schemes of work seamlessly, delivering high-quality lessons in Algebra, Geometry, Ratio, and Probability.
- GCSE Momentum: Provide targeted support for Year 11 cohorts, focusing on exam techniques and closing gaps in high-frequency topic areas to ensure no learning time is lost.
- Active Classroom Management: Establish immediate rapport and maintain a purposeful, high-energy learning environment from day one.
- Data-Driven Instruction: Use quick-fire assessments to gauge student understanding and pivot your teaching to address misconceptions in real-time.
- Collaborative Integration: Work closely with the Maths department to ensure a smooth handover at the start and end of your 6-week tenure.
- Marking & Planning: Maintain the high standards of the department by providing timely feedback that helps students refine their mathematical reasoning.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): This is essential. We need a practitioner who can hit the ground running without an induction period.
- Mathematical Expertise: A degree-level understanding of Maths and a proven track record of delivering results at the secondary level.
- Adaptability: The "professional agility" to walk into a new department and immediately align with their teaching style and expectations.
- Cambridge Commute: Ideally based in or near Cambridge, with the ability to commit to the full 6-week duration.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one urgently through Randstad).
