A new opportunity is available for a Mechanical Estimator with experience in water treatment projects. This is a remote-based role with some travel required for site visits and meetings as needed.
You'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive mechanical estimates for a range of water and wastewater treatment schemes, supporting tender submissions and early-stage project planning.
The Role
Produce detailed mechanical estimates for new build, upgrade and maintenance works across clean and wastewater sites
Review technical documents, drawings and specifications to build accurate cost models
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure competitive submissions
Work closely with design, planning and commercial teams to support pricing strategies and risk reviews
Contribute to bid meetings, clarify technical aspects, and respond to client queries during the tender process
Identify value engineering opportunities and ensure all estimates comply with client and industry standards
Maintain accurate records of assumptions, quotations and supplier communications
Support post-tender handover into project teams, providing clarity on scope and cost
Occasionally attend sites or meetings across the UK when required
What We're Looking For
Strong background in mechanical estimating within the water or wider process sectors
Experience with water treatment projects is essential (clean or wastewater)
Good understanding of mechanical systems including pumps, pipework, valves and treatment equipment
Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Familiar with estimating software and standard industry pricing databases
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
Clear communicator, able to work effectively with internal and external contacts
Desirable
HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related field
Knowledge of NEC contracts and public sector procurement frameworks
