The Role: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Painter & Decorator to join our busy maintenance team. You will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of painting and decorating works within our social housing properties, ensuring high standards of finish and excellent customer satisfaction. This role is crucial in helping us maintain our properties to a high standard and provide a pleasant living environment for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare various surfaces for painting and decorating, including stripping old wallpaper, filling cracks and holes, sanding, and priming.
- Apply paint, wallpaper, and other finishes to a high standard, using appropriate techniques and materials.
- Work on internal and external surfaces of residential properties.
- Carry out patch repairs and redecoration as required.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe, with particular attention to resident comfort and safety.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with residents, colleagues, and other contractors.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including job sheets and material requisitions.
- Identify and report any additional maintenance issues or defects to the relevant department.
- Work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines and complete jobs within allocated timeframes.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Painter & Decorator, ideally within a social housing or domestic property environment.
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Painting & Decorating or plastering or a relevant trade
- Proficient in all aspects of surface preparation, painting, and wallpapering.
- Excellent knowledge of different paint types, materials, and application techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- A full, clean UK driving license and access to a vehicle (as you will be travelling between properties).
- Understanding of and commitment to health and safety regulations.
- DBS check will be required upon successful offer of employment.
