Key Responsibilities
As an SEN/SEMH Teacher, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:
Creating and delivering personalised lessons that meet the specific academic, social, and emotional needs of each pupil.
Implementing proactive and positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils with challenging needs.
Providing consistent emotional and pastoral support to pupils, acting as a trusted adult they can turn to.
Collaborating with teaching assistants and the SENCO to plan and deliver a stimulating curriculum.
Meticulously tracking and reporting on pupils' progress against their individualised education plans.
Requirements
To succeed in this position, you must possess:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
A proven background in teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A calm, patient, and highly resilient approach to working with young people.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
