Randstad Education is currently searching for a specific type of educator. We need candidates who combine the technical skill of Phonics interventions with the emotional intelligence required for 1:1 SEN support. We are working with Primary schools across Leeds who need professionals to help close the gap for their most vulnerable learners.
The Role: More Than Just "Helping Out"
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit at the back of the class washing paint pots. This is an active, intervention-focused role where you will be:
The Phonics Expert: leading small groups or 1:1 sessions using schemes like Read Write Inc, Jolly Phonics, or Letters and Sounds. You will be the key to unlocking literacy for children who are falling behind.
The 1:1 Champion: working exclusively with children with additional needs (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, or Speech & Language difficulties). You will be their anchor, adapting the curriculum so they can access it alongside their peers.
The Confidence Builder: turning "I can't" into "I just did."
Who You Are
Experienced: You have practical experience delivering Phonics sessions and know your phonemes from your graphemes.
SEN Savvy: You understand that behaviour is communication. You have experience supporting children with SEN and know how to de-escalate and motivate.
Adaptable: You can switch from high-energy phonics games to calm, sensory-focused support in a heartbeat.
