Are you an experienced, adaptable, and proactive primary Teaching Assistant looking for a stable, full-time placement for the entire upcoming academic year?
Can you seamlessly step into a vibrant junior school environment and provide the targeted academic and emotional support that empowers Key Stage 2 pupils to thrive?
We are seeking a seasoned, high-calibre Primary Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic partner Primary School located in Watford. This full-time, long-term contract runs for the full academic year from September 2026 through to July 2027. Catering to junior-aged pupils (Years 3 to 6), this school is renowned for its inclusive ethos and high standards of student development. This role is perfect for a dedicated professional who can hit the ground running, manage small-group interventions confidently, and serve as a reliable mentor for the children throughout their crucial junior school journey.
Your Responsibilities
- Targeted Learning Interventions: Deliver structured, high-impact literacy, numeracy, and catch-up sessions for small groups or 1:1 pupils, keeping them engaged and on track with the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
- Classroom Partnership: Work hand-in-hand with the Class Teacher to prepare resources, manage classroom dynamics, and create an inclusive, highly productive learning environment.
- Inclusion & SEND Support: Provide dedicated support to pupils with additional learning needs (including Autism, ADHD, and dyslexia), implementing tailored strategies to ensure they can fully access the lessons.
- Positive Behaviour Support: Maintain a calm, encouraging, and structured atmosphere by utilising the school's established positive behaviour frameworks and de-escalation techniques.
- Progress Monitoring: Observe student engagement and academic breakthroughs, keeping accurate records and providing valuable feedback to the teaching team and SENCO.
- Holistic School Contribution: Assist with playground supervision, lunchtime routines, and school trips, ensuring the highest standards of safety and child welfare at all times.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Proven Primary Experience: A solid track record of working as a Teaching Assistant within a UK primary or junior school setting (Key Stage 2 experience is highly advantageous).
- Curriculum Confidence: A strong understanding of the junior school curriculum, along with excellent literacy and numeracy skills to confidently guide pupils.
- Unwavering Reliability: Because consistency is vital for junior-aged learners, you must be able to commit to a full-time, 5-day-a-week schedule (Monday to Friday) for the full academic year.
- Proactive Energy: A dynamic, forward-thinking approach to classroom support, with the ability to spot where help is needed before being asked.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
