We are seeking a dedicated, high-calibre Primary Teaching Assistant to join our partner Primary school based in Watford. This full-time, long-term contract runs for the complete academic year from September 2026 through to July 2027. Working across EYFS, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2, you will serve as a vital anchor for the classroom. Because this school maintains high standards of student development and inclusive learning, relevant experience working within a UK school setting is mandatory for this position.
Your Responsibilities
- Targeted Learning Interventions: Deliver high-impact, small-group or 1:1 catch-up sessions in literacy, numeracy, and phonics, keeping pupils engaged and aligned with the National Curriculum.
- Classroom Partnership: Work side-by-side with the Class Teacher to prepare creative learning resources, manage daily classroom dynamics, and cultivate an organized, positive environment.
- Inclusion & SEND Support: Provide patient, dedicated guidance to pupils with additional needs (such as Autism, ADHD, or speech delays), successfully implementing their individualized learning plans.
- Positive Behaviour Support: Encourage excellent standards of behaviour and focus by seamlessly utilizing the school's established positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
- Progress Monitoring: Observe student participation and academic breakthroughs, keeping clear records and providing valuable feedback to the teaching team and SENCO.
- Holistic School Care: Assist with playground supervision, lunchtime routines, and school excursions, ensuring the highest standards of safety and child welfare.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- UK Classroom Experience (Mandatory): A solid, proven track record of working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant within a UK primary school setting.
- Curriculum Confidence: A strong understanding of primary school frameworks, backed by excellent literacy and numeracy skills to confidently guide young minds.
- Unwavering Reliability: Because consistency is vital for primary-aged learners, you must be able to commit to a full-time, 5-day-a-week schedule (Monday to Friday) from September 2026 to July 2027.
- Proactive Energy: A forward-thinking, intuitive approach to classroom support, with the ability to spot where help is needed before being asked.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
