Purpose of the Role
The Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the project within the Alliance, in support of the Project Director. The role includes the coordination and facilitation of all processes to ensure minimal impact and disruption to existing operations throughout the project lifecycle.
The Project Manager will have a strong background in commercial management across all aspects of the project, ensuring it is taken into tram operation safely, on time, and within budget. They will be responsible for resource planning and ensuring the appropriate level of resource is available to meet key project milestones.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability
- Lead multi-discipline teams, maintaining a "Best for Alliance" environment
- Deliver key elements of the BEE Project safely and responsibly, meeting time, cost, and quality requirements
- Agree timescales, costs, and resource requirements
- Develop detailed project plans for each stage
- Select, manage, and lead the project team
- Direct multi-disciplinary Construction and Rail teams
- Communicate effectively and professionally with staff at all levels
- Oversee multiple project sections simultaneously
- Ensure all project stages are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard
- Report regularly on progress to the Project Director and stakeholders
- Resolve issues and delays as they arise
- Adapt to organisational changes and meet operational requirements
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required
Person Specification
- Knowledge of project delivery in a civils environment
- Ability to manage project plans, budgets, and workforce
- Experience managing multiple project sections with support from junior project managers
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams
- Proven delivery within a strong safety culture in a high-risk environment
Qualifications
- Relevant degree
- Recognised Project Management qualification
- Membership (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management or another relevant professional body
