Are you a passionate and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) looking for a rewarding permanent opportunity? Oldham Council is seeking a dedicated and qualified Adults AMHP to join their Mental Health Services team, supporting adults experiencing acute mental health crises.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake statutory duties under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended), including assessments and applications for detention.

• Work closely with partner agencies including NHS services, police, and crisis teams to deliver timely, person-centred support.

• Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on mental health legislation and best practice.

• Participate in a rota system to ensure consistent AMHP coverage across the borough.

• Promote recovery-focused, strengths-based practice that protects the rights and wellbeing of vulnerable adults.

Requirements:

✅ Qualified Social Worker, Nurse, OT, or Psychologist
✅ AMHP qualification and approval (must be current and maintained)
✅ Social Work England registration (if applicable)
✅ Experience working in a community or crisis mental health setting
✅ Excellent understanding of the Mental Health Act, MCA, and Care Act
✅ Strong multi-agency working and decision-making skills
