Senior Social Worker - Children in Care Service
Wakefield Children in Care Service is seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Senior Social Worker to join our committed and supportive team. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality safeguarding and care planning, ensuring children receive the stability, protection, and support they need to thrive.

Responsibilities:
- Hold responsibility for a caseload of looked after children and children subject to care proceedings
- Undertake statutory duties in line with the Children Act 1989 and associated legislation
- Develop and implement effective care plans promoting stability, permanence, and positive outcomes
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies
- Prepare high-quality, analytical reports for court
- Attend court hearings and contribute to decision-making processes
- Promote a child-centred, strengths-based approach to practice
To be considered for the role, ideally you will have:
- Diploma/Degree in Social Work
- Social Work England registration
- Significant experience within Children in Care/Looked After Children services
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding frameworks
- Experience of court work and report writing
- Excellent assessment, planning, and analytical skills
- Ability to work confidently with complex cases
