Social Worker - Support & Protection
Trafford Council is currently recruiting for permanent Social Workers to join our Support & Protection Service across our locality teams in Altrincham, Stretford, and Sale.

- Salary: £37,280 - £42,839 per annum
- Social Workers appointed at Band 7 (Level 2) or Band 8 (Level 3) depending on experience Band 8 (Level 3) Social Workers receive a Market Factor Supplement of £2,400 per annum

Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans and Care Proceedings
- Undertake statutory duties in line with the Children Act 1989 and associated legislation
- Complete high-quality assessments, care planning, and reviews
- Develop and implement plans that promote safety, stability, and permanence
- Work directly with children, young people, and families using a strengths-based approach
- Contribute to safeguarding, risk management, and decision-making processes
- Prepare clear, analytical reports for court and attend hearings as required
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated support
- Maintain accurate and timely case recordings
To be considered for the role, ideally you will have:
- Diploma / Degree in Social Work
- Social Work England registration
- Minimum 3 years' post-qualifying experience
- Experience within Child Protection / Care Proceedings
- Strong assessment, safeguarding, and care planning skills
- Ability to manage complex and longer-term casework
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
