We are seeking dedicated Children's Residential Practitioners to join a highly regarded and forward-thinking children's residential provider in East Lothian. In this role, you will help create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can build life skills, grow in confidence, and develop resilience.
Shift Patterns Available:
- Full-time: 24-hour shifts (including 8-hour sleepover) on a 9-week rolling rota (3 days on, 3 days off).
- Part-time: 12-hour shifts (10 am - 10 pm) or 6-hour shifts (10 am - 4 pm / 4 pm - 10 pm).

- Competitive Pay: £12.50 - £15.50 per hour. Experienced and qualified (HNC/SVQ 3) staff earn a minimum of £14 per hour (approx. £33,890 annually including sleepover allowance).

Responsibilities:
- Working with Children and Young People who have a range of support needs - emotional, behavioural difficulties, family breakdown, disabilities
- Support children in managing their behaviour, offering guidance and techniques to handle emotional outbursts or difficult situations.
- Encourage participation in hobbies and interests to develop social and life skills.
- Encourage and assist with educational activities and attendance at school or other educational settings
- Follow and contribute to individual care plans for each child, ensuring that the child's needs and preferences are respected.
- Work as part of a team of care staff, sharing information and providing support to colleagues.
- Offer emotional stability and support to children who may be struggling with their past experiences
To be considered for the Residential Practitioner role, ideally you will have:
- HNC/SVQ Children & Young People or equivalent - Desirable
- Open to speaking with candidates who have over 1-2 years children's residential or similar experience of working with Children and Young People
- Clean Driving License
- Able to work unsocial hours including weekends (rota basis)
