Salary: £44,000 per annum + a potential £5,000 performance bonus
What You'll Be Doing
As the Care Home Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all child care services within the home. Your core responsibilities include:
Child-Centred Care: Ensuring your own practice is child-centred and promoting this approach among your staff. You will be responsible for creating individual care, behavioural, and independence plans for each child.
Staff Leadership: Managing and supporting your staff team daily, promoting good conduct and best practice. This includes overseeing new staff completing the All Wales induction framework , providing supervision and appraisal , and addressing unsatisfactory performance or misconduct.
Safeguarding: Serving as the designated Safeguarding Officer for the home, with full familiarity with Gwent's safeguarding protocols. You must ensure staff understand their accountability in cases of actual or potential harm or abuse. You should also be fully competent in all aspects of risk assessments.
Compliance & Administration: Ensuring the home is fully compliant and meets expectations set by RISCA and the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW). This includes fiscal management, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing accurate petty cash records to the Operations Director monthly. You will also ensure records and reports are accurate, concise, and in line with legal requirements.
Environment & Wellbeing: Promoting a homely environment where staff and young people contribute to its upkeep. You will ensure children's emotional, physical, and dietary needs are met , including promoting family mealtimes and good home cooking.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualifications: A Level 5 in Leadership and Management or a Level 4 with a prior QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care for Children and Young People (CYP).
Registration: Registration with Social Care Wales and the DBS update service is mandatory.
Experience: A sound knowledge of RISCA regulations and the CIW Framework for inspections. Competence in investigatory and disciplinary hearings is also required.
Other Requirements: A clean UK manual driver's license is essential. You must also be able to actively promote the Social Care Wales active offer if you are not a Welsh speaker.
