SICS Gofal Cymru Cyf is looking for a Residential Care Worker to join their integrated team and assist in delivering high-quality care to children and young people. This role is vital in helping their young people come to terms with and address their difficulties in a safe, caring environment.
Job Role: Residential Care WorkerCompany: SICS Gofal Cymru Cyf Salary: £34,160 per annumWorking Hours: 24-hour shifts, following a 3-3-1 rota system.Week 1: Monday, Thursday, Saturday
Week 2: Tuesday, Friday, Sunday
Week 3: Wednesday
You must be able to work weekends and bank holidays, including Christmas, if they fall on your rota days.
What You'll Be Doing
Under the direction of the Care Home Manager and Team Leader, you will be a positive role model and a key part of the home's daily operations. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing advice, guidance, and support to young people.
Assisting in all aspects of day-to-day residential care for children with emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties and special educational needs.
Taking on the role of a key worker for a young person.
Promoting and participating in the education and development of life skills, including literacy, numeracy, and homework.
Assisting with the management and operation of the home's budget and petty cash.
Ensuring the home environment is safe and homely and contributes to its maintenance and upkeep.
Maintaining good communication systems through proper use of handovers, team meetings, and essential reading.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
Essential Qualification: QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care for Children and Young People.
Experience: At least two years' experience in a registered residential children's home.
Registration: Must be registered with Social Care for Wales and the DBS Update Service.
Personal Qualities: Be a good role model, honest, professional, and empathetic. You must be flexible and willing to go the extra mile.
Skills: A good understanding of key working, risk assessments, and managing challenging behaviours. You must have a full UK driver's license and be IT literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Flexibility: You will be expected to work flexible hours, including bank holidays, evenings, and be part of an on-call rota. You should also be prepared for short breaks or holidays with residents and to be "snowed in" at the care home.
