Are you an experienced Support Worker or Senior Support Worker with a passion for making a real difference? We are seeking dedicated individuals with proven experience supporting children and young people in crisis to join our specialist team in Slough.
This is a challenging yet rewarding role where you will use your specialist skills to de-escalate difficult situations, build trust, and provide a safe, supportive environment for vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities
As a Specialist Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive care and support to children and young people within a residential setting.
- Confidently working with colleagues to manage and de-escalate heightened behaviours, using proven techniques to keep children safe.
- Making decisive, appropriate decisions and taking action in challenging situations.
- Maintaining detailed, accurate daily records and incident reports.
- Creatively engaging with children and young people to establish and build trust.
- Collaborating with the wider team to implement care plans and support daily activities.
- Demonstrating sound communication, strong judgement, and clarity in protecting personal and professional boundaries.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- A minimum of 6 month's experience as a residential children's support worker (in a residential setting) within the last 3 years.
- A full UK driving licence and your own car.
- An updated enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to obtain one).
- A valid overseas police certificate, if you have lived outside the UK for 6 months or more in the last 5 years.
The Ideal Candidate
While not essential, the following are highly desirable:
- An NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- The ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
- A genuine and demonstrable commitment to the welfare of children.
