Job Overview:

Lewisham Council is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join the Learning Disabilities Team on a locum basis. The successful candidate will work with adults with learning disabilities to promote independence, well-being, and access to services in line with legislative frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake Care Act assessments, support planning, reviews, and safeguarding enquiries for adults with learning disabilities.

• Conduct Mental Capacity Assessments and contribute to Best Interest decisions where appropriate.

• Work collaboratively with service users, families, and multi-agency partners including health professionals and voluntary organisations.

• Develop and implement person-centred support plans that promote choice, control, and independence.

• Maintain accurate, timely records and reports using the council's case management system.

• Uphold the principles of inclusion, equality, and anti-discriminatory practice in all aspects of work.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

• Minimum 2 years of experience working with adults with learning disabilities.

• Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Safeguarding Adults procedures.

• Excellent communication, assessment, and case management skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
