Do you have a knack for fixing things and a strong sense of responsibility? We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to become an integral part of our school community in Flint. This is a hands-on role where your skills and dedication will directly contribute to a safe and thriving educational environment.
About the Role:
As the School Caretaker, you will be the on-site guardian of our buildings and grounds. Your daily tasks will range from ensuring the school is secure for the day's activities to carrying out essential repairs and maintenance. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is committed to maintaining a high-quality, clean, and safe space for our students and staff. This isn't just a job; it's a vital role that supports the entire school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security & Access: Act as a key holder, responsible for opening and securing the school at the start and end of the day, as well as responding to out-of-hours alarms.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform a wide range of minor repairs and general DIY tasks, including painting, basic plumbing, and fixing minor building issues.
- Health & Safety: Conduct regular safety inspections, maintain fire safety equipment, and ensure that the premises are free of hazards.
- Grounds Maintenance: Keep the school grounds tidy, including litter collection and managing seasonal tasks such as clearing leaves or gritting paths.
- Operational Support: Assist with the setup of classrooms and halls for events, and manage incoming deliveries.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a maintenance, site management, or caretaking role.
- A strong practical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- A solid understanding of health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, staff, and contractors.
- The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
- A full UK Driving Licence is often an advantage.
- A successful enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required.
