At Randstad Education, we are seeking a dedicated Qualified Science Teacher (QTS) to join our partner Secondary School in Bury St Edmunds. This full-time, temporary role is an excellent opportunity to step into an established, well-resourced STEM department and make an immediate impact. Your Responsibilities
- Practical Lesson Delivery: Plan and deliver high-impact Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, translating theoretical concepts into engaging classroom learning.
- Laboratory Leadership: Facilitate safe and inspiring practical experiments, coordinating closely with the technician team to bring the curriculum to life.
- Exam Strategy: Guide Year 11 cohorts through their GCSE specifications (Combined and Triple Science), utilising data-driven interventions to push every student toward their target grades.
- Adaptive Teaching: Expertly differentiate complex topics for a diverse classroom, providing scaffolding for students building foundational skills while stretching high-attaining learners.
- Assessment & Feedback: Maintain the school's standards for timely marking, tracking, and constructive feedback throughout the duration of your temporary assignment.
- Faculty Integration: Work collaboratively within the Science department to share resources, participate in moderation, and maintain consistency for all pupils.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related STEM field).
- Technical Precision: The confidence to model accurate laboratory techniques and maintain rigorous health and safety standards (CLEAPSS).
- Classroom Command: Exceptional classroom management skills, with the ability to quickly establish rapport, trust, and mutual respect with new classes.
- Adaptability: The flexibility to seamlessly integrate into a new school community and hit the ground running with a full-time timetable.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
