We are seeking an intellectually curious and high-energy Science Teacher (QTS) for a full-time, long-term temporary position at our partner Secondary School in Sutton. This school is renowned for its commitment to the sciences and is looking for a practitioner who can deliver the curriculum with both academic rigor and real-world relevance. Whether you are a specialist in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, your ability to deliver high-quality across all three disciplines at KS3 and your specialism at KS4 is what will make you stand out.
Your Responsibilities
- Academic Delivery: Plan and deliver high-impact Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring students develop a deep understanding of the scientific method and core principles.
- Laboratory Excellence: Design and facilitate safe, engaging practical experiments, utilising the school's modern laboratory facilities to bring theory to life.
- GCSE Strategy: Lead Year 11 cohorts through their exam specifications (AQA/Edexcel), utilising data-driven interventions to ensure every student achieves their potential.
- STEM Integration: Highlight the links between the three sciences and their applications in modern technology, medicine, and environmental sustainability.
- Inquiry-Based Learning: Foster a classroom environment where students are encouraged to ask "why," form hypotheses, and analyse data with a critical eye.
- Collaborative Planning: Work with the technician team and departmental colleagues to share resources and maintain a high standard of laboratory safety and organisation.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in a Scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
- Technical Mastery: A deep understanding of scientific concepts and the ability to explain complex phenomena with clarity and enthusiasm.
- Classroom Authority: Exceptional management skills that ensure a safe, focused, and productive environment, especially during practical investigations.
