We are seeking an enthusiastic, intellectually curious Qualified Science Teacher (QTS) for a full-time, long-term temporary position at our partner secondary school in Thetford. This role is ideal for a specialist who thrives on the routine of a full timetable and wants to become an integral part of a forward-thinking faculty. Whether your core strength is in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, your ability to combine academic rigor with real-world context will make you a vital asset to the team.
Your Responsibilities
- Academic Delivery: Plan and facilitate inspiring Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, embedding a deep understanding of the scientific method and core principles.
- Laboratory Excellence: Create and lead safe, interactive practical experiments that utilize the school's facilities to make theoretical concepts tangible.
- GCSE Strategy: Lead and support Year 11 classes through their exam specifications, using data-driven targeted interventions to elevate pupil outcomes.
- STEM Advocacy: Connect the curriculum directly to modern technological, medical, and environmental advancements to show the real-world value of science.
- Assessment & Tracking: Take complete ownership of student marking, data tracking, and structured feedback to consistently drive academic improvement.
- Collaborative Planning: Work hand-in-hand with the science technicians and teaching colleagues to maintain excellent resource management and laboratory safety.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A university degree in a Scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or general Science).
