Are you an energetic, inquisitive Science Teacher ready to bring Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to life for secondary pupils?
Randstad Education is actively recruiting a qualified Science Teacher for an encouraging secondary academy in the Thetford area. Whether your background is rooted in molecular biology, chemical reactions, or classical physics, this position offers an outstanding framework to deliver dynamic practical experiments and robust theory across key stages.
Given the school's geographical location and the sparse nature of rural public transport around Thetford, having a full driving licence and access to a car is strongly advised for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Hands-On Practical Lessons: As an active Science Teacher, you will design and facilitate safe, engaging laboratory experiments and theoretical sessions across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE).
- Full Academic Assessment: Manage end-to-end teaching duties, including practical write-up assessments, regular homework marking, diagnostic feedback, and GCSE exam preparation.
- Promote Laboratory Safety: Maintain strict health, safety, and COSHH compliance within lab environments, working hand-in-hand with science technicians to manage equipment and chemical stock safely.
- Cultivate Analytical Thinking: Help pupils connect abstract scientific principles to everyday technology, environmental issues, and medical breakthroughs.
- Departmental Synergy: Collaborate with science faculty members to standardize practical coursework, contribute to STEM clubs, and refine interactive learning modules.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a proactive, safety-conscious Science Teacher with excellent classroom management and a penchant for practical learning.
- Mandatory Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
- Mandatory Right to Work in the UK - Please be advised that the school is unable to provide visa sponsorship; all candidates must hold current, unrestricted UK working rights.
- Must be a driver with personal transport due to limited surrounding bus and train connections.
- Demonstrable experience working as a Science Teacher within a UK secondary school environment.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
