We are seeking an intellectually curious and high-energy Qualified Science Teacher (QTS) for a full-time, long-term temporary position at our partner Secondary School in Witham. This role is perfect for a specialist who enjoys the consistency of a full-time schedule and wants to embed themselves within a forward-thinking department. Whether your expertise lies in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, your ability to deliver the curriculum with academic rigour and real-world relevance will be key to your success.
Your Responsibilities
- Academic Delivery: Plan and deliver high-impact Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring students develop a deep understanding of scientific principles and the scientific method.
- Laboratory Excellence: Design and facilitate safe, engaging practical experiments, utilising the school's laboratory facilities to bring theoretical concepts to life.
- GCSE Strategy: Lead Year 11 cohorts through their exam specifications, utilising data-driven interventions to ensure every student achieves their potential.
- STEM Advocacy: Highlight the links between the sciences and their applications in modern technology, medicine, and environmental sustainability.
- Assessment & Tracking: Take full responsibility for marking, progress tracking, and providing detailed feedback to drive student improvement.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with the technician team and departmental colleagues to ensure a high standard of laboratory safety and resource management.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in a Scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
- Technical Mastery: A deep understanding of scientific concepts and the ability to explain complex phenomena with clarity and enthusiasm.
- Classroom Authority: Exceptional management skills that ensure a safe, focused, and productive environment, especially during practical investigations.
- Adaptability: The resilience to thrive in a fast-paced Essex school and the flexibility to support students of all ability levels.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
