This is a permanent position designed for a candidate who is passionate about curriculum excellence and developing teaching talent.
The Role:
The 2iC role is pivotal in supporting the Head of Department (HOD) in the strategic development and operational management of the English curriculum across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Support: Work closely with the HOD to design, implement, and review an engaging and challenging curriculum that drives high attainment and literacy across the school.
Line Management: Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to a team of teachers, contributing to their professional development and performance management.
Teaching & Learning: Champion outstanding teaching practices within the department through observation, feedback, and leading departmental training sessions.
Assessment & Data: Assist in the analysis of data to identify intervention points and track student progress toward challenging targets.
Resource Management: Contribute to the creation and organisation of high-quality teaching resources.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in English or a related subject.

Previous experience holding responsibility within an English department (e.g., Key Stage Lead, Literacy Coordinator, or Lead Practitioner).
Highly organised, resilient, and possessing strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
