The Role: Secondary Teaching Assistant
We are seeking enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistants ready to support students aged 11-16 (Key Stage 3 & 4) across a range of academic subjects and needs.
This role is ideal if you are passionate about education, possess excellent communication skills, and are committed to helping young people overcome learning barriers.
Core Responsibilities:
- 1:1 and Group Support: Assist students with diverse learning needs (e.g., SEN, EAL) both within the classroom and in small group settings.
- Classroom Facilitation: Work alongside the class teacher to support lesson delivery and manage resources, primarily focusing on behaviour and engagement.
- Promote Inclusion: Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Adapt and Respond: Quickly adapt your support style to different subjects, teachers, and student personalities.
Are You the Right Fit? (Essential Criteria)
- Experience (or proven desire to work) with young people aged 11+.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- A resilient and proactive attitude, ready to support challenging behaviour where necessary.
- A current Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one through Randstad).
- Bonus: Experience with specific SEN needs (Autism, ADHD, SEMH) is a huge advantage!
