Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will be instrumental in helping pupils with SEND/SEMH needs thrive. Your responsibilities will include:
Working closely with the class teacher to put into practice individual education and behaviour plans for pupils.
Acting as a trusted and calm presence to help pupils manage their emotions and self-regulate in a busy classroom environment.
Offering targeted, one-on-one and small-group support to help pupils access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
Building strong, positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and parents to create a cohesive support network.
Keeping meticulous records of pupil progress and behaviour, providing valuable feedback to the wider school team.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
Demonstrable experience working with children with SEN or SEMH needs in a school or similar setting.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A compassionate, resilient, and patient approach to working with young people.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable pupils.
Relevant training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
