SEN Primary Teaching Assistant
Pay: £90-£95 per day
We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and committed SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils within primary school settings. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, both in and out of the classroom.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and engage in learning activities
- Assisting with behaviour management using positive reinforcement strategies
- Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual education plans (IEPs)
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and self-esteem
- Supporting learning in core subjects such as literacy and numeracy
- Assisting with classroom preparation and adapting resources where required
- Providing pastoral care and emotional support throughout the school day
- Supervising pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and school activities

- Has experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting
- Is patient, resilient, and empathetic
- Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Is confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs
- Works well as part of a team and follows school policies
