The Opportunity
Are you a Science Teacher who loves making the wonders of the world accessible to everyone? Randstad Education is looking for a passionate specialist to lead a Science classroom within a dedicated SEN environment in Liverpool. We need an educator who can take scientific concepts and turn them into "hands-on," sensory, and practical experiences for students with diverse learning requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interactive Science: Designing and delivering lessons that prioritise sensory exploration and practical experiments to make Science tangible for SEN learners.
- Curriculum Adaptation: Tailoring the Science National Curriculum using P-Scales and entry-level frameworks to ensure content is accessible and age-appropriate.
- Progress Tracking: Monitoring and recording small-step achievements, focusing on how students apply scientific inquiry to their daily lives.
- Collaborative Care: Working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that educational targets are synchronised with each student's EHCP.
- Holistic Support: Maintaining a nurturing, safe environment where students feel supported, including providing personal care where necessary to facilitate learning.
Requirements:
- QTS: Must hold UK Qualified Teacher Status.
- Subject Expertise: A strong background in Science with experience teaching in a UK SEN school or alternative provision.
- Differentiated Approach: Proficiency in adapting lab work and theory for students with ASD, ADHD, and SLD, ensuring a high standard of inclusive classroom management.
- Personal Attributes: A patient, resilient professional who brings a calm and creative energy to the lab.
- Background Check: An enhanced DBS on the Update Service is essential (or willingness to apply immediately).
