Are you an exceptional Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
We are seeking dedicated and resilient SEN TAs, ready to start in January 2026, to join an outstanding specialist setting in the Preston area. This provision caters to students with complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

The Role and Responsibilities
As a Specialist SEN TA, your commitment and expertise will be crucial to the daily success and well-being of our pupils. Your roles will include, but not be limited to:
1:1 and Small Group Support: Providing targeted support to pupils with complex learning, communication, and physical needs, adapting methods to suit individual EHCP goals.
Curriculum Access: Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering highly differentiated lessons that enable all pupils to access the curriculum, focusing on life skills, communication, and independence.
Personal Care and Welfare: Confidently and respectfully assisting pupils with personal care needs, mobility, and feeding, ensuring their dignity and safety are maintained at all times.
Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour support strategies (PBS) and therapeutic interventions tailored to manage challenging behaviour effectively and calmly.
Therapeutic Support: Working alongside and supporting external professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists (SALT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and physiotherapists to deliver integrated programmes.
Resource Creation: Preparing specialist learning resources and maintaining a safe, stimulating, and accessible learning environment.
What We Are Looking For
To thrive in this specialist setting, you will need:
Prior experience (minimum 6 months) supporting young people with complex SEND, preferably in a special school or unit setting.
A recognised qualification or demonstrable experience relevant to supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, or ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition).
Exceptional resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to inclusion.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team.
A proactive, organised, and solution-focused approach to daily challenges.
