We are looking for empathetic and resilient staff to support pupils with complex Special Educational Needs.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Specialist Primary Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in creating a secure and supportive learning environment. Your responsibilities will include:
Working closely with pupils with complex needs, including those who are non-verbal, to facilitate their academic, social, and emotional development.
Confidently and calmly managing challenging behaviour, using proactive strategies to de-escalate situations and ensure the safety of all pupils.
Facilitating and supporting non-verbal communication methods, such as PECS, Makaton, or communication boards.
Providing compassionate and dignified personal care, as required, to pupils with physical and health needs.
Working closely with the class teacher and other support staff to deliver bespoke learning activities that meet each pupil's individual needs.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
Demonstrable experience working with children with complex Special Educational Needs, particularly those with communication difficulties and challenging behaviour.
A proven background in a specialist or mainstream setting where you have supported pupils with diverse needs.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A resilient, patient, and highly compassionate approach.
Experience with personal care is advantageous, but a willingness to undertake it is essential.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
