Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant who thrives on "lightbulb moments"? Do you have a deep understanding of Autism, social communication, and emotional regulation?
We have launched a brand-new, specialist secondary school in Chaldon, Surrey, last September. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a founding team, helping to establish the culture and environment of a school designed specifically for young people aged 11-16.
If you are looking for a role where your expertise is valued and your impact is visible every day, we want to hear from you.
Why Join Us?
We believe in a "person-first" approach. With small class sizes and a high ratio of support, we give our students-and our staff-the space to succeed.
Competitive Pay: £24,139 - £25,819 (Actual Salary) | £13.51 - £14.45 per hour.
Welcome Bonus: £1,000 to kickstart your journey with us.
Work-Life Balance: Term-time only contract (40 hours per week).
Collaborative Culture: Work alongside a multi-disciplinary intervention team in a state-of-the-art environment.
The Role
As a Senior/Experienced Teaching Assistant, you won't just be "helping out." You will be a vital link in our students' developmental chain. Your day-to-day will involve:
Tailored Support: Implementing and adapting learning activities to meet complex sensory and emotional needs.
Behavioural Leadership: Using your experience to manage escalations with empathy, patience, and a positive, therapeutic approach.
Promoting Independence: Helping students build the life skills and confidence they need to navigate the world beyond the classroom.
Safeguarding Excellence: Acting as a champion for the welfare and wellbeing of every young person in our care.
Shift Patterns
Our school day is structured to provide consistency for our students:
Monday - Wednesday: 08:15 - 16:45
Thursday: 08:15 - 17:00
Friday: 08:15 - 16:00
Note: While based in Chaldon, occasional flexibility to work at our nearby satellite site in Caterham may be required.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking practitioners who understand that progress isn't always linear. You should have:
Proven Experience: A background in supporting children with SEND, specifically Autism and SEMH.
Resilience: The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt your style to the "energy" of the room.
Passion: A genuine desire to be part of a brand-new project and help build a school from the ground up.
"Every opportunity to achieve." That is our promise to our students. If you have the skills to help them get there, we'd love to meet you.
