Role Overview: As a Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. In a secondary environment, your role is to help students bridge the gap between their primary education and adulthood, fostering independence while ensuring they can access a complex curriculum.

Pay Rate: £90 - £100 per day

Key Responsibilities:
Tailored Support: Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials to suit specific sensory or cognitive needs.
Emotional Regulation: Use de-escalation techniques to support students who may become overwhelmed in a busy school environment.
Inclusion Advocacy: Assist students in practical subjects and classroom settings to ensure they are fully included in school life.
Progress Tracking: Work closely with the SENCO to monitor and record student milestones, providing feedback to parents and external professionals.
Independence Building: Guide students in developing organizational skills and self-advocacy as they prepare for exams and future transitions.
Desired Skills & Qualities:
SEND Experience: Previous experience (professional or personal) with SEND is highly valued.
Resilient Character: A calm, "unflappable" nature when faced with challenging behavior or complex emotional needs.
Communication: Ability to use alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS or Visual Timetables) if required.
Commitment: A desire to provide the stable, long-term support that SEND students rely on.
Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one) and right to work in the UK.
