- SEMH Teacher - Bentley, Hampshire
Are you a passionate and resilient educator dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are an independent specialist school in Bentley, Hampshire, committed to providing high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred education for boys aged 11 to 17. Our students have a range of SEMH needs, and many also present with other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. We pride ourselves on a trauma and attachment-informed approach, ensuring all staff receive extensive therapeutic training and support to foster a nurturing and successful learning environment.
About The Role
At our school, we believe we are all primarily teachers of children before teachers of subjects. This role is pivotal in truly knowing each child, building professional, nurturing, and positive relationships, and motivating our students to achieve their full potential.
We are seeking a dedicated Teacher with the ability and willingness to teach English and/or Maths to GCSE level. Regardless of the accreditation pathway best suited to the individual child, we maintain high aspirations for all our students. We understand the critical importance of qualifications in providing our young people with life chances and future opportunities.
As a teacher at our school, you will:
- Inspire children, creating a sense of awe and wonder in your lessons, making subjects real and relevant.
- Plan and deliver exciting and engaging learning opportunities that challenge and push students, whether they are grasping the basics or excelling in a particular area.
- Manage complex and challenging behaviours with understanding and a non-judgemental approach, recognising our students' need for consistent support, appropriate communication, and flexibility.
- Contribute to the decision-making processes that drive our school forward, advocating for every child.
- Play an active role in developing both our academic curriculum and our extra-curricular offerings, bringing your own interests and passions to enrich our students' experience.
