Why Bristol? Why Now?
Join a highly successful specialist educational provision right here in the thriving city of Bristol. We offer a unique career path that allows you to deliver exceptionally impactful teaching while enjoying the cultural and lifestyle advantages that Bristol offers.
We provide a sustainable work model designed to free up your non-contact time, giving you the time and energy to engage with everything from the Harbour side to the local arts scene.
The Educational Mission in Bristol
Our school is dedicated to supporting Bristol's young people who require a small, therapeutic, and nurturing environment. We focus on re-engaging students (typically Years 3-6, ages 7-11) who present with complex needs, including SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and SCLN.
The Specialist Setting:
Small Class Model: Maximum class size of 6 pupils, supported by one or two dedicated Teaching Assistants (TAs).
The Challenge: Students have an academic delay of 1 to 4 years, demanding highly creative, patient, and intensely differentiated teaching-the perfect environment for a QTS teacher to specialise and master their craft.
The Role: Maximise Impact, Minimise Stress
This is an opportunity to step away from mainstream pressures and commit fully to holistic, child-centred progress. We are looking for educators who want to deliver high-quality, focused support without sacrificing their personal life.
Core Responsibilities Include:
Creating Predictability: Implementing structured, low-arousal environments using tools like the 'now and next' approach to build emotional regulation and independence.
Curriculum Adaptation: Planning and delivering a primary curriculum that effectively and creatively bridges significant attainment gaps using strong visual aids and therapeutic techniques.
Collaborative Practice: Working closely with an experienced team of TAs and our wider pastoral team to integrate therapeutic and educational goals effectively.
Your Bristol Work-Life Advantage
We recognise that specialist teaching requires immense commitment. That's why we offer a highly supportive structure to ensure you can genuinely enjoy living in Bristol:
Negotiable Working Pattern: For the right candidate, we are explicitly willing to discuss and potentially negotiate working hours and expectations around planning and marking to achieve a truly sustainable schedule.
Guaranteed Small Class Sizes: Focus on quality relationships and meaningful impact.
Term-Time Schedule: Enjoy all school holidays, maximising your free time.
The Ideal Candidate MUST Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Demonstrable experience working with children presenting with SEMH, ASC, and/or complex learning needs in a primary setting.
A proven ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and therapeutically.
A creative, flexible approach and a deep commitment to making a positive, long-term difference.
