Key Responsibilities
As an SEN/SEMH Teacher, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:
Creating and delivering personalised, engaging lessons that cater to a wide range of learning needs and styles.
Utilising a variety of effective behaviour management and de-escalation techniques to foster a positive and safe learning environment.
Meticulously tracking pupil progress against their personal education plans and reporting on achievements.
Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals to provide holistic support for pupils.
Acting as a key figure in a pupil's life, providing consistent emotional and pastoral support to help them feel secure and confident.
Requirements
To succeed in this position, you must possess:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
A proven background in teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
