Job Title: SEN Teacher - KS2 Complex Needs (Maternity Cover)

An opportunity is available for an experienced SEN Teacher to lead a highly-supported Key Stage 2 class within a specialist Trafford school. This full-time, 12-month maternity cover (starting Jan 2026) requires a highly experienced, committed and confident complex needs teacher.

Your Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a highly sensory and communication-focused curriculum, utilising the Engagement Model and other pre-formal learning frameworks.
- Develop and implement PBS plans to support complex behaviours
- Create and manage IEPs and EHCP targets focused on early communication skills (such as PECS, Makaton, or objects of reference).
- Foster a calm and safe, that meets the pupils' complex sensory processing needs.
- Assess and record progress for pupils working at early developmental levels.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, particularly Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, to ensure a holistic approach.
- Uphold the school's high standards of safeguarding and child protection.
Your Requirements
- Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
- This post is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs).
- Significant, proven experience teaching pupils with complex SEN, particularly those with social communication difficulties and complex behaviours.
- Demonstrable experience working with pupils who are pre-verbal and working at early developmental levels (P-Levels / Engagement Model).
- Strong knowledge of sensory processing and experience in planning and delivering a sensory-based curriculum.
- Confidence and experience in leading and managing a large team of classroom support staff.
- A resilient, patient, and compassionate approach to teaching.
- An enhanced DBS Children and Adult on the update service, or the willingness to apply for a new one through Randstad.
