Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant for a role in a primary school in the Wakefield area. This is a crucial position supporting one specific child with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will be instrumental in ensuring the pupil's well-being and academic progress. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing bespoke one-on-one support to a pupil with specific SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their personal goals.
Confidently implementing a bespoke behaviour support plan and using de-escalation techniques to manage and diffuse challenging situations.
Acting as a consistent and trusted adult, providing calm emotional and pastoral support to help the pupil manage their feelings and anxieties.
Fostering the pupil's confidence and social skills, helping them to feel secure and included in the classroom environment.
A willingness to assist with personal care duties as needed will be a significant advantage for this role.
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach.
Requirements:
To be successful in this unique and rewarding role, you must have:
Demonstrable experience working 1:1 with children with complex SEN or challenging behaviour in a school or care setting.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature is essential.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and effectively.
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils and making a lasting, positive impact.
Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation techniques is highly desirable.
