Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role is pivotal in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will be responsible for:
Providing bespoke one-on-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of needs, helping them to access the mainstream curriculum.
Working closely with the class teacher to adapt activities and lessons to ensure all children can participate and feel a part of the school community.
Assisting in the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning goals.
Encouraging pupils to build confidence, resilience, and crucial social skills to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Liaising with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive and effective support system.
Requirements:
To succeed in this position, you must possess:
A demonstrable background in working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
Excellent communication skills and the flexibility to adapt to different classroom needs.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or similar strategies is highly desirable.
