This rewarding role involves working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve academic success.
You'll be part of a caring and committed team that puts the wellbeing and progress of every pupil at the heart of what they do.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with SEMH and behavioural needs in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
- Implement individual learning plans in collaboration with teachers and SENCOs
- Promote emotional resilience, positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils and provide consistent encouragement and guidance.
- Assist with classroom activities, lesson preparation, and behaviour management.
To effectively support students with Special Educational Needs and contribute to a positive school environment, the following qualities and experiences are crucial:
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural challenges (essential).
- A calm, empathetic and patient approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Youth Work, or Health & Social Care are desirable.
