We are recruiting for a specialist school in the Cheadle Hulme area. This provision supports students aged 4-19 who have severe to profound learning difficulties, often accompanied by sensory impairments, communication disorders, and autism. We require a Teaching Assistant to work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver an individualised curriculum in a specialist environment.

Responsibilities
You will work alongside Teachers, Therapists, and other support staff to facilitate daily learning and care.
- Provide one-to-one support to students with complex needs, including Autism, multi-sensory impairments, and physical disabilities.
- Assist in the delivery of individualised learning programmes, adapting resources to meet specific communication needs.
- Provide intimate personal care and support with daily hygiene routines, maintaining high standards of dignity.
- Assist students with limited mobility, using hoists, wheelchairs, and other specialist equipment (training provided).
- Support students who may display challenging behaviour using de-escalation strategies and positive reinforcement.
- Facilitate communication development and social interaction within a multi-sensory learning environment.
Requirements
Candidates must have prior exposure to care or education settings to be considered for this role.
- Experience working in a UK care or education setting is required.
- Practical understanding of complex needs, learning disabilities (SLD/PMLD), autism, and sensory impairments.
- Ability and willingness to perform personal care duties.
- Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour.
- Ability to work effectively within a large team of professionals.
- Right to work in the UK.
- A valid Enhanced Children and Adults DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
